Production designs, paintovers and miscellaneous odds and ends for a cancelled moba project by Epic Games.
Art Director : Chris Perna
Final modelsheet for a character that had already passed through a number of hands. I think Zak Foreman had done a treatment. Anyway, techy frog thing. You love it!
A spooky, black-ops treatment. You'd see him repelling down large buildings with his little suction-cup fingers.
Tried one with more tropical frog color. Don't lick him or you die!
Same deal. Different color breakup. If you work on games like this, you know how it goes. There were more of these, but you don't need to see them...
Coooooool headgear! Hive five, cool guy!
First round of thumbnails for techy frog man. Remember Frog and Toad, those children's book characters? Like that, but badass.
Potential heads for froggyman. The cigar must have been a designer request, because that's in every single one of these.
Direction got pushed more humaniod, so C was the one developed.
Vibe shot for Frog Legs. He'd just casually light up in the thick of battle. No f@%$ given.
Jump animation idea. Herman Ng was doing a ton of this kind of thing, and I think I wanted to get in on it. Such a copycat!
At one point I think I was like, "Yo, dawg! What if his tongue was, like, a FIST? And he, like, attacked with it?" (I don't really talk like that.)
The chibi pitch. I think everyone was still reeling from Guardians of the Galaxy at this point, and everyone was trying to do their own version of Rocket Raccoon.
Part of me wanted him to be a Komodo dragon, 'cuz come on. Komodo dragons...
Weird alien version I slid in for the sake of being conversational. Chris Perna is my AD.
